When Senior Data Analyst Jinesha Jain stepped onto the TEDx Round Rock Women stage in late 2025, she wasn’t there to talk about dashboards, metrics, or technical mastery. She was there to talk about something more personal – and surprisingly essential to how we perform at our best here at Realtor.com: the power of stillness in a world that never stops moving.
The theme of the TEDx event, “Own It,” attracted speakers from engineering, medicine, nonprofit leadership, and tech. Hundreds applied, but only a small group was selected.
For Jinesha, who had kept “Give a TEDx Talk” on her vision board since 2023, being chosen was deeply meaningful. Her message wasn’t about hitting big goals. Instead, it was about what happens inside us while we’re chasing them.
Finding Calm in the Chaos
As a first-generation immigrant from India, Jinesha carries what she described as an “unsaid responsibility” to make something exceptional of her family’s sacrifices.
“You have to build your name from scratch, and you want to make sure all the investment and energy your parents put into you results in something good,” she said.
Although Jinesha advanced quickly in her personal and professional life, it came with an invisible cost. “My mom told me, ‘You don’t carry the same smile you used to have.’ That was the turning point,” she said.
In pursuit of clarity and internal balance, she turned to a centuries-old yogic breathing practice called the “humming bee breath” (or Bhramari pranayama). The practice activates the vagus nerve, lowering stress responses and improving focus.
“As soon as I started using this breathing technique, I saw immediate results in my work,” she said. “I was taking on more projects, speaking up more, and my performance reviews improved.”
The message she shared from the TEDx stage was simple but powerful: growth isn’t only external. It must happen internally, as well.
Making a Meaningful Impact
Beyond her own personal growth, Jinesha used her TEDx talk as a way to contribute to others. Her hope was that her experience might resonate with people navigating similar pressures, especially immigrants and women balancing multiple roles.
“I’ve done the research, and I’ve done the experiment on myself,” she said. “If it works for me in stressful situations, maybe it can help someone else too.”
And this proved to be true. After the presentation, audience members approached her with stories of their own – the responsibilities of juggling multiple roles and struggling to take care of themselves while being everything to everyone. Jinesha’s TEDx message reminds us that one of those wins is learning to pause long enough to align ourselves with what truly matters.
“We give all the love in our bucket to others,” one attendee told Jinesha. “You must remember to leave some for yourself and give away the overflow.”
Congratulations, Jinesha, on inspiring so many – inside and outside Realtor.com.
