Interning at Realtor.com is more than just a summer job. It’s an opportunity to contribute to real-world projects, benefit from mentorship within a supportive team environment, and grow professionally—all before school starts back up in the fall.
We recently spoke with five of our interns about their experiences so far this summer and their work on diverse projects—from data analytics and UX design to creative marketing. Their stories reveal the unique opportunities and collaborative culture that make an internship at Realtor.com the best way to spend summer break.
Improving Operations
A finance intern working with the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team, Zyad (Max) C., helps to manage the revenue planning for our product Listhub.com and Concierge close research revenue modeling. He handles forecasting, budgeting, and reporting to management on a weekly and monthly basis. He also works on optimizing call center headcount models.
Zyad loves the supportive vibe on his team, especially the daily check-ins that keep everyone connected and helping each other out, even when they’re working on solo projects. The job, he said, is the perfect intersection of two of his passions: real estate and technology.
“Understanding the inner-workings of the company through a finance lens has helped me get a better understanding of where the industry is and where I want to head in the future.”
Zyad isn’t the only intern helping us operate more efficiently. Shreya S., a software engineer intern working with the Concierge (FocusFire) team, is helping by optimizing how we store Consumer Success Representative (CSR) call recordings. This project has exposed her to various aspects of the FocusFire app, while helping her develop technical skills in AWS, SQL, and Python.
“I was warmly welcomed from the get-go and seamlessly fell into the team operations,” Shreya said. “There is a big emphasis on learning while doing from the start. My team welcomes me to ask many questions and gives me space to grow as both a person and a developer.”
Optimizing Customer Experience
Providing an optimal customer experience is another top priority for the company, with many of our internships focusing on that goal.
Data analytics intern Garrison B. is developing an interactive anomaly alerting system to help stakeholders quickly identify and address data and business issues, leading to faster corrective actions and improved customer experiences.
Garrison enjoys the supportive environment, which he says encourages creative thinking and trying new things without fear of failure. “I find that the values of the company culture align with my own moral code – specifically, the standards of fairness, respect, and transparency,” he said.
Kamil Y., an intern with the Upnest Consumer Team, is working on enhancing our Agent Profiles Web component, and in partnership with Data Science & Analytics and User Experience, is analyzing consumer engagement to help influence decisions.
“Although I’m new, I have the opportunity to contribute to the end-to-end lifecycle of a product feature release at Realtor.com,” Kamil said. “I feel that my contributions are meaningful and align with the company’s mission.”
Making Marketing Magic
Graphic design intern for our Brand Bureau, Diem N. has been playing an important role in helping bring our creative vision to integrated marketing campaigns. She has also developed house ads and mobile assets for the new Discover Feed feature on iOS, which can be seen online.
“Aside from being around the best of the best in the game, everyone is extremely hardworking and kind,” Diem said. “The dedication to craft and drive to find practical yet creative solutions to business problems is very inspiring.”
Some Advice for Prospective Interns
Max says to stay open-minded and embrace the learning experience. “Although it may seem like a lot to start off with, the experience becomes easier and more fulfilling as time goes on, as you get to understand the business and how you can play a role to make it even better,” he said.
Kamil recommends authenticity throughout the application process. “Staying true to yourself is crucial in finding a place where you truly fit and can thrive,” he said. “It’s important to be genuine, as this will help you connect with a company that values and supports you.”
Echoing his sentiment, Shreya advises prospective interns to start early, network, and apply to everything. “You’ll end up in the place that is meant for you,” she said.
